What to Wear Wednesdays | Dress for your portrait session from Target!

I skipped last week’s What to Wear and it’s not because I forgot but more because what I was creating was looking pretty much like something I created a week before.  I think if you look at the past entries you can see the theme (color, very little use of white, flattering lines and fit on mom, accessories, coordinating family looks and not matching, etc) so I thought I would take a different angle and dress the family from Target.  You don’t have to spend a fortune to have a great look for portraits (in fact you probably have the perfect clothes already in your closet!) and this is just one example.  They have alot of cute stuff and who isn’t at Target at least once a week anyway??

I won’t be posting outfits weekly but we’re close to changing seasons (can you believe it??) and I will have some fall looks soon!

What to Wear Wednesdays | What to Wear for Portraits - Blue and Black

I had in mind to do blue and black this week, and didn’t quite find what I was looking for but hopegully you can get the gist.  I don’t think I have used black before but it can be quite dramatic and beautiful in photos.  Of course the most important factor is your skin tone so choose what is the most flattering shade for your coloring (black may be too harsh) but you can easily mix a little bit of classic style with a pop of fun color(s).   And of course we all know black is slimming if it fits well, and that is a bonus!  These outfits come from www.oldnavy.com.

What to Wear Wednesdays | Mom and her kiddos

I think most moms agree that we’re not in photos as much as we should be.  It may be our own fault (waiting to lose that last 5 lbs?) or it may be that we’re always holding the camera but whatever the reason years from now those images of us with our babies are precious.  So even if you aren’t planning a family portrait session always be prepared to jump in a few shots Mom, you will be so glad you did!

What to Wear Wednesdays | On a Saturday…

Yes I do realize it’s not a Wednesday but in moving land who knows what day it is - it’s all a blur!  Of course my internet was cut off too early and is not yet connected (with no end in site) so this is being uploaded from a cafe as I sneak in a small amount of email time.  We are settled into our cosy rental home (settled may not be accurate, we’re THERE and so is all of our stuff - IN BOXES!) and trying to find some normalcy.  I am doing my best to keep with with emails via blackberry, hopefully I will be working at 100% very soon.  I under estimated just how much work this would be!  I very much appreciate everyone’s patience.

So this week’s outfit is done via laptop very quickly so it may not be my best work, but I am just loving orange so find a way to incorperate it!  These outfits are all available on gap.com.

What to Wear Wednesdays | Earth Tones

This week’s family is Mom & Dad with their two boys.  Accessories on the boys can be removed for varied looks, this color scheme looks particularly good in wooded/natural settings (although Mom may want to bring a pair of comfortable shoes if we’re doing a good bit of walking!).

What to Wear Wednesdays | Saturated Colors

Once again a family look where white is nowhere in sight.  Saturated colors are great for summer sessions where the family has a bit of a sunkissed look.

What to Wear Wednesdays | Family Blues (and Greens)

It’s getting a little harder to find summer looks , they are already sneaking in fall apparel!  Another example of a coordinating family look using blue, green and brown.  These colors are both great colors for outdoor sessions and by having all three in the palette each family member can go with the color most flattering to their skin tone.  These pieces are found at Oldnavy.com, Gap.com and BananaRepublic.com.  (Just a reminder that we are closed through July 8th and all emails and voice mails will be responded to then!)
