Sneak Peek! | Newborn Twins in Raleigh

If just one baby isn’t enough to get you all gooey inside, how about two?!  These precious bundles made their appearence early and spent six weeks hanging out in the NICU so by the time I got my hands on them they were still small in size but very much alert and ready to party.  Their personalities could not have been more different, one still wanting to curl and one wanting to lay as flat and stretched out as possible.  When I laid them next to each other one always wanted to be on top.  And when they both made their little newborn sounds in unison, it was truly too cute to handle!  So let me introduce the very sweet brother and sister!

What to Wear Wednesday | Coordinating Family Portaits

With the holiday I almost forgot what day it is but remembered at the last minute - What to Wear Wednesday!  I decided to throw out a few more family ideas because I think that is what most people struggle with.  Both groups are coordinating (not matching!), and all go together well as one big outfit.  In the first I chose the daughter’s patterned dress and pulled colors from that to bring the family look together.  In the second the accent scarf ties in all colors from the family’s look.  Keep in mind that the colors you choose are the colors that will be hanging large on your wall!  damily-portraits1

Awesomeness | 30×40 Canvas and Coffee Table Book for White Dahlia

Just had to share this little beauty, a gorgeous, stunning, fantabulous 30×40 fine art canvas for the owners of White Dahlia Spa in Raleigh.  I snapped this before delivering it so it’s wrapped in plastic and cardboard but every time I get my hands on a client’s new art I have a small moment where I consider finding a way to keep it for myself.  You will just not be disappointed with one of these, what better art to display than your own amazing family?  To the right is a coffee table book, while smaller, not really any less fantabulous.

The canvas will be hanging in the family’s home so I am afraid you can’t visit it in person but you can grab a peek at the coffee table book which is displayed at White Dahlia.  So next time you’re getting your relaxation on (seriously, we don’t do this enough, you leave feeling like a new person!) take a gander through this and one other display book!

Sneak Peek! | Newborn Portraits in Cary, NC

This little guy was all grown up from a photography stand point.  He was a whole THREE WEEKS OLD.  Crazy, I know.  But there is a reason for the cut off - by this time most babies aren’t the sleepy little bundles you first brought home but little party animals that may not be huge fans of my positioning them.  They also generally don’t curl up anymore and prefer to be stretched out and if the baby acne is going to appear, it often appears right about now.  But as you can see this little guy was just a dream for me and we didn’t run into any of those problems.  He slept like an angel and I had a great time with him and his super cool parents!

But what do I wear for family portraits??

I think most people stress just a little about what to wear for their session (even thought I tell you not to!).  I am working with some other photographers to try and put together outfit ideas weekly to give you inspiration for your session starting this week with what to wear for family portraits.  You do not need to match.  Let me repeat, you do NOT need to match!  Unless you are those people that do walk around matching on a daily basis, try to coordinate your families outfits but please do not all wear the same navy polo shirts and khakis.  Just consider it a personal favor to me ;-)  Choose colors that are flattering to your skin tones and clothing that isn’t tight (especially around the mid section) and isn’t too low cut.  Gap is featured this week and I will probably feature them a good bit.  One of my favorite places for kids and adults, and reasonably priced as well.  When you book your session I will give you a long list of stores to shop from and more specific clothing information.  Just be yourself, don’t be afraid of color and remember layering and accessories can make a big impact on little people and big!

Sneak Peek! | A Beautiful Newborn

This little one is just so gorgeous and was so good to me that I could barely decide which photos to blog.  The weather was not looking like it would cooperate as I drove to Elizabethtown, NC but he was already 10 days old and we didn’t want to wait any longer.  In the end we made it work and actually used stormy weather for gorgeous light.  I stood in the rain through a good portion of the session but the warm and humid weather was just right for this little guy!
