When your nickname is Honeybee your cake smash theme goes without saying – bright, yellow happy, sunflowers! Have you visited the Dix Park sunflower fields? After skipping 2020 the 2021 blooms were gorgeous and I used that inspiration for the yellow honeybee set design. Shades of yellows and white, natural touches and a variety of florals along with a subtle honeycomb nod to the honey bee.

Mom chose a yellow tulle dress that went perfectly with the set but she walked in with the most adorable blue and pink smocked dress. The contrast was perfect and just a little different, I loved the look!

A few dress options on Amazon:
The yellow dress shown above, an absolutely gorgeous lace dress with vintage vibes, and the cult classic tulle dress that come in just about every color and fits every baby perfectly! I recommend no more than two outfits for a cake smash session because each outfit change eats away precious happy baby time. Most babies don’t love excess clothing changes. I am always ready to online shop so let me help you choose the perfect outfit for your shoot!

We finished the day with a milkbath in our garden tub for this very happy girl. By the end of the shoot most babies are feeling a bit fatigued, a bit sticky and tired of playing with my props so a warm bath is (almost always!) a welcome change. Since babies often associate bath time with sleep time they leave clean, calm and ready for a nice long nap on the ride home!
