Sneak Peek! | Raleigh Family Portraits

Long time no blogging!  This year we moved to a year round school and September was our first experience with track out.  It was nice to steal a little time with my family in the middle of a busy season and we squeezed in a vacation, a family visit and pneumonia - exciting times!  But this week they went back to school and we are all back to the grind.  After last week’s rain rescheduling and the already full October I am just about booked through the holiday season.  A few folks have yet to confirm their session date so I will post a final update on my availability soon but mini sessions may be the only sessions remaining.  I am looking forward to cool weather and smiling faces!

The rain cleared out just in time for this session with a sweet girl that is very popular on my blog.  I hear so many comments on her newborn and six month photos, she is gorgeous girl so I am not surprised.  This session was the first time I had seen her walking and the new dynamic that is a toddler session vs. a baby session.  Every bit as cute but harder to catch!

Prayers for a client

My clients very often become my friends and I care for their children and family so it’s heartbreaking for me to hear that one is hurting.  I wanted to ask for prayers for a family going through a very difficult time.  The information below is from September 4th on their Facebook group page here, updates are provided there as well.  They need prayers for comfort and healing so they can get their dad back as soon as possible.  They have three sweet, beautiful kiddos that you have seen on this blog before.

A dear friend of mine (who is only 40) has been dealt with some life altering health issues. Andy had his first stroke about three years ago, they found the problem fixed it and life went on as he knew it. (He even was blessed with a third child). Now here is the mystical part as of about 3 weeks ago he begin noticing stroke symptoms again and much to his families dismay he had been suffering from mini strokes. He went back into the hospital only to find that the same artery was blocked again. The team of Doctors were stunned to say the least and they wanted to make certain what procedure they wanted to do, (go in and clean it again or put a new vain in his neck). Finally the Docs decide to go in explore their options and make a decision then. They ended up putting a synthetic graph in his artery. As of today September 4th 2009 after his surgery yesterday Andy suffered another stroke after post-op. So far he is alert and somewhat awake. I’m asking that we all pray for him, his wife and their three children that his recovery is strong and quick.

Joey Jog 2009 Silent Auction | October 3rd at the Brownstone Hotel

I am back in town and ohmygoodness at the pile of boxes, emails and voice mails I have to respond to!  Thank you everyone who is waiting patiently for a reply or order, I always underestimate just how much time it will take me to get back on track after I am out of town.

I wanted to mention an upcoming charity event in Raleigh that I (along with tons of other businesses) am donating to.    It is the Joey Jog Silent Auction to raise funds for the American Liver Foundation and is held in honor of Josephine Heppner who was struck with acute liver failure at the age of just 2.  The planners of this event put so much time and work into it and it should be great fun in addition to being a great cause.  There will be food, drinks and live music from the band The Remedy AND you can bid on a session - what more do you need??  Details are below and please visit the website at www.joeyjog.org/silentauction

October 3rd, 7:30pm
WHERE: Holiday Inn Brownstone Hotel
1707 Hillsborough St. Raleigh NC

TICKETS: $25 in advance, $30 at the door. These include 2 drink tickets.

Business Spotlight | Parties by Bash

Name: Courtney Scholl

A little about your business: I am a special event planner specializing in children’s parties, baby showers. I think every birthday is special and deserves to be celebrated in style!

A little about you and your family: I was born in Raleigh and currently live in Holly Springs with my husband and 3 children- Tatum (10) Macon (7) Reagan (1).

How did you get started? I was working outside the home when my two older children were 1 and 3. I was always exhausted and trying to balance everything. I tried several other in-home jobs and after planning my daughters 4th birthday the rest just fell into place. I absolutely think special event planning fits me perfectly. I love the creativity it takes to put an event together. It gives me an incredible sense of accomplishment to see an event come together.

How would you describe yourself? Outgoing, friendly, compassionate

Some of your favorite things: Nicholas Sparks books & bubble bath, www.premierbaby.com, www.MarthaStewart.com, www.swankcakedesign.com, www.whimsicalcookies.com.

Any secrets for managing life as a Mom and business owner?
Don’t sweat the small stuff. Everything is not always going to go exactly as you plan. Sometimes it does, but not as often as you hope. You can’t get worked up or nothing will get accomplished, sit back, look at the situation and make a new plan, it might be better than the original! Include your kids if you can. My older daughter loves to help me with invitations and making décor - it makes great mother-daughter quality time!

Sneak Peek! | Raleigh Baby Portraits

One more sneak peek before I take a little time off to spend with my kiddos as they track out.  My family has seen too much of my back as I work furiously at the computer so I look forward to spending some time face to face with all three of them ;) I will check email when I can, and be back in the office full time September 21st ready to tackle the fall rush.  Speaking of fall rush - September is booked and October/November are limited.  Please contact me as soon as you can if you want to get in on a fall session!

Now onto a sweet boy that gave me lots of big gummy smiles.  I had such a great time with him and his Mommy and even got to sneak in a feed and a cuddle.  Thank you so much for sharing him with me!

Sneak Peek! | Raleigh Baby Photographer

It had been a year since I had seen this little guy, and boy had he changed!  He was just a few days old then and now was a smiley, walking (running?) toddler!  In my mind the newborns I photograph are still the little bundles I met forever so it’s always a surprise to me when I get to see my newborns growing up!

Sneak Peek! | Newborn Photographer in Raleigh, NC

My newborn boy trend continues!  This little sweetie seemed to love the hot humid weather outdoors so we obliged, even getting him to sleep through his normal morning “awake” time.  He had absolutely perfect skin tone, just a gorgeous little man!
